Is CCNP harder than CCNA?

Cisco certification is designed to help anyone interested to build a career in the field of technology. Both CCNP courses and the CCNA courses are designed and offered by Cisco certification. CCNA course stands for Cisco certified network associate certification, which is an important course for any professional seeking a career in the networking grounds. CCNP course, on the other hand, is Cisco certified network professional certification, which allows IT professionals to get into the networking grounds professionally. One good thing about Cisco is that it keeps changing certain aspects of its certification programmers according to the variations in job roles to keep up in the market.

As far as the differences in the competency level required to clear a CCNA certification versus a CCNP certification, let us look at some differences and similarities below-

  • CCNA is an associate-level certification whereas CCNP is a more advanced certification course.

  • There is only one CCNA certification that is cleared after a single exam. However, CCNP certification has five different sub-tracks and requires two passed exams, one core and one concentration.

  • Out of all CCNP sub-tracks, CCNP Enterprise is the closest to a CCNA certification as both involve an in-depth understanding of switching, routing and wireless functioning.

  • CCNA is one of the most popular Cisco certifications to date.

  • The CCNA certification costs approximately US $330 whereas a CCNP certification cost is approximately US $900 ($300 per module).

As far as the exam difficulty level is concerned, CCNA is said to be a little less challenging as it only has 1 exam. However, it is also the base course for CCNP certification which makes the CCNP exams relatively easier to target. No matter which Cisco courses between CCNA or CCNP you choose, CCNP training and CCNA training will increase your proficiency.

Overall, both CCNA and CCNP certification are important in their own ways. CCNA is essential for understanding the variety of networking technologies I don’t more fundamental level. However, CCNP is more specialized and covers a wider range of particular technology areas.
